Kells & District Tourism Forum has moved its information desk in the north Meath town to make it more accessible to visitors.

Since Thursday last, the Tourist Forum Office is now based in the Foyer of the Headfort Arms Hotel and will be manned by two members of staff throughout the week.

The desk will initially be open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., when Kells experiences the largest numbers of visitors.

The Tourism Forum has been based in a back office of the Kells Chamber in Carrick Street, for two years and temporarily took up summer residence in the “Made in Kells” shop in Market Street.

However due to an upturn in visitor numbers to the Town, it was deemed necessary to move the desk to a more central location.

The Tourism Forum with a number of other stakeholders, will be taking a stand at the Coach & Bus Show at the RDS in November with the aim of increasing visitor numbers to Kells in 2015.

The Kells Tourism brochure is also undergoing an upgrade and all interested parties are invited to comment and offer suggestions on how to improve the information and presentation before it goes to print at the end of October.

The Brochure can be accessed online at www.visitingkells.ie – and all comments can be forwarded to info@visitingkells.ie for the attention of Lucy O’Reilly.

Olivia Duff for the Headfort Arms Hotel said “the Hotel looks forward to working with the Kells & District Tourism Forum and the Information Desk will serve to be mutually beneficial for all parties and the wider tourism experience of Kells as a destination.”

Oliver Sweeney, spokesperson for the Tourism Forum added: “We are delighted that there has been such an improvement in tourism numbers in town and that the mission of the Tourism Forum is coming into its own – namely that of providing information to both residents and visitors about our heritage and events and in an ideal location.

“The new location will assist us in disseminating both Heritage and event information to passers-by in a wider and more effective way than had previously been possible.”
